Etten-Leur: after various jobs, and encouraged by his bother Theo, Vincent decided to become an artist and moved back to his parents’ house in Etten. Vincent made a drawing of the parsonage that once stood somewhere near here. Vincent worked and slept in an outbuilding next to the house. He studied mostly from drawing books but also from live models. He worked regularly in the open air. As usual he wrote to his brother Theo about the literature and the art which interested him. He also began to write about his progress as an artist. He sometimes sketched in a letter whatever he was working on at that moment.
