Zundert: The grave of Vincent’s oldest brother who was stillborn can still be seen in the graveyard. This was exactly one year before Vincent himself was born. Vincent mentioned this in a letter to his former boss, Mr Tersteeg, when the latter’s young daughter died. The grave did not appear to have been emotionally significant for Vincent. The graveyard had earlier been one of the places in which he had played. Next to the graveyard is the old Verger’s house and a guest studio where contemporary art exhibitions are held regularly.
